Galleri Oxholm is beyond pleased to present THE NEVER ENDING SUMMER, the first solo exhibition of works by the Canadian artist and photographer Raphael Mazzucco in Copenhagen.
The exhibition consists of 11 large scale multi-media paintings. Navigating the gallery space, the viewer gets to experience the unique and overwhelming poetic universe of this world known photographer and artist at first hand.
The predominantly large paintings span the entire gallery and their multiple details and references to history, life, beauty, modern fashion icons and found objects are their identity and visual voice.
Raphael Mazzucco´s practice explores fine art photography and painting in a new and fun way. The resin adds texture and layers to the works´ stories. Visually the layers create a story within a story with the resin painting over the photograph which turns the work into a journey for the viewer to enjoy. No detail, no element or biome is irrelevant or unworthy of notice. Their existence dictates that they contribute in some way to the ecosystems and partnerships. Mazzucco looks at nature in search of a mutual poetical gesture that helps to state love, dedication and enthusiasm to photography. His work is not about telling a story. It is about a moment in time. A certain tension through which things of human knowledge emerge. Another element is that of mystery.
About his work Mazzucco has said: “… I feel life is a circle, it´s a journey that always ends back at home. I draw a lot of inspiration from my surroundings and I love being in the moment, but even if the work is photographed in the remotest location, the journey always comes full back to my home…My inspiration is many facetted. It seems to come to me through the experience of new locations. Every new situation or new environment automatically bring me a new energy when connected to a new person. ” - Raphael Mazzucco
Mazzucco has created iconic images for notable global brands thoughout a 20-year photography career, including Calvin Klein, Guess Jeans, Victoria´s Secret, Playboy, Vogue, Ralph Lauren, Intimissimi, and L´Oreal to mention a few. His photographs have also coveted main cover position of three Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues in a four-year span (re. 2006 onwards).

Marzzucco´s mixed-media art is an impressive layered narration comprised of fashion photography, paint, collage and text. The striking imagery is most ofte inspired by the female form and vast grand landscapes, ranging from Africa´s wildlife, the Australian outback to Vietnamese rice paddies, among other exotic locations. Mazzucco has showcased his work across the globe, from London to Milan, Hong Kong to New York City and Oxholm Gallery is pleased to be added to the list.
